Biofuels and Competing Interests
The growing use of corn to produce ethanol has driven up prices at the grocery store and feedlot, triggering a lively debate. In addition, questions are being asked whether our efforts to harvest massive amounts of biomass will strain our water resources. This panel discusses these competing interests.

Carbon Trading

Video Presentation

Concerns about global warming have stimulated strong interest in establishing federal limits on CO2 emissions. These panelists will discuss how farmers and ranchers can benefit financially from federal regulatory schemes - such as "cap and trade" - to limit CO2 emissions.

Keynote: The Role of Alternative Fuels in National Security

Video Presentation

Before 9/11, the dangers of our reliance on imported oil were not apparent to many of us. Former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, James Woolsey, shares his insights as to why America's national security and future economic security require that we reduce our reliance on foreign oil - used primarily to produce gasoline and diesel fuels - by developing alternative transportation fuels and being more efficient in our energy use.
